We need to up our game!
Opponents have turned up the volume of their protests by a) developing a spiffy new website (ProtectWildcatCanyon), b) handing out flyers at Alvarado Park, c) using Next Door, d) posting flyers throughout Wildcat-Tilden, e) contacting the East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD), and f) gathering signatures to a petition opposing the trail.
In part because of their efforts, the EBRPD is having to expand the scope of Environmental Impact Report (EIR) to address some of the issues being raised by the opponents even though most of those claims are not based on facts. The schedule for completing the EIR has slipped to this fall. The Board would then be asked to approve the EIR and proceed with construction towards the end of this year. Construction would not begin until 2027.
We need your help to counter the efforts of the opponents. More specifically please:
1. Get your family and friends to sign our petition supporting the flow trail here. We have seen time and again that petitions really do have an impact on the Board, and we need to make sure our petition has at least as many as the opponents!
2. Keep an eye out on local social media platforms like Next Door and Facebook for negative comments on the flow trail. Take the time to counter the comments with the facts which you can find here. Also, notify us at WildcatFlowTrail@gmail.com. Please be respectful and stick to the facts. Leave the fear mongering and name calling to the opponents!
3. Let the EBRPD know you support the flow trail by writing a letter to the Board ('publiccomment@ebparks.org') or better yet, by making public comment at an upcoming Board meeting. The latter can be done virtually or in persons. Go here for instructions.
4. Contact us to volunteer to help further. WildcatFlowTrail@gmail.org
