Sample Email to Send to EBRPD Board
Sending an email to the EBRPD Board supporting the Wildcat Flow trail is an easy and effective way to help us get the trail built. Send your email to publiccomment@ebparks.org. The subject line MUST be: “Public Comments – Wildcat Bike Trail”. It is preferred that these written comments be submitted before 3:00 pm the day before the Board meeting.
Here is an outline of what an email can contain. In writing your email please remain polite. Many of us are deeply frustrated by the lack of mtb access but venting that frustration at the Board or staff will do more harm than good.

Dear Board Members:
Start by providing key information:
- You are writing to urge them to support the Wildcat Bike Trail.
- Briefly tell them why you are interested in
seeing the trail built, e.g. I am a mountain biker that wants to avoid having to
drive a long distance to get to desirable trails.
Then perhaps add one or more of the following points:
- Note that District staff have done two
preliminary environmental studies that show the trail would have very limited environmental
impacts and these have been mitigated by thoughtful design.
- Note that the trail would be safer than many of the
fire roads in the park because the curves in the trail will slow down the rider. In addition, the trail would be for
bikes-only.
- Note that the trail would occupy only a few acres of
land which has been heavily grazed for decades and is composed of non-native
grasses.
- Note that the trail is far from trails that are frequented
by other users.
- Note that hikers have about 15 miles of narrow
trail allocated solely to them in Wildcat and Tilden while bikers have 3
miles which must be shared with other users.
- Note that there are only about 8 miles of any kind of trail that remain dry enough to ride during the rainy season.
Then close by providing some kind of thanks.
